The NFB Films app for mobile offers the option to cast films via AirPlay or Chromecast to your TV. To use these features, you will need the NFB Films app on your mobile device, a suitable wireless connection and one of the following three options: 

• A TV with an HDMI port and a casting device (Apple TV/AirPlay, Chromecast). 

• AirPlay-compatible smart TV. 

• TV with built-in Chromecast. 

To download the app, simply visit your mobile device’s app store and search for “NFB Films.” 

How to cast to your TV with AirPlay  

You can use AirPlay to stream a film from the NFB Films app on your Apple device (iPhone or iPad) to your Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible smart TV. 

STEP 1: Connect your mobile device to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible smart TV. 

STEP 2: In the NFB Films app, from any film page click on the AirPlay icon at the top right of your screen. A window will open on your mobile device. 

STEP 3: Choose your Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible smart TV. 

To stop casting, click on the AirPlay icon and select “Back” on your iPhone or iPad. 

How to cast to your TV with Chromecast  

You can use Chromecast to stream the films from the NFB Films app on your mobile devices to your TV. 

Note: You will need to have the Google Home app downloaded onto your mobile device, and your Chromecast properly set up. Please see the instructions here. 

STEP 1: Connect your mobile device or tablet to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast or your TV with built-in Chromecast. 

STEP 2: In the NFB Films app, from any film page click on the Chromecast icon at the top right of your screen. Select the device you’d like to cast to. 

STEP 3: Press the WATCH NOW button on the film details page to begin playing the film. You can use the functions on your Chromecast controller (play, pause, mute, etc.). 

To stop casting, click on the Chromecast icon and select “Stop Casting” on your mobile device or tablet.
