How to obtain MARC or KBART cataloguing files

There are two ways to obtain bibliographic files that can be used to integrate the films available on NFB.ca into your catalogue: through the OCLC knowledge base or by downloading them from NFB.ca with an account that has permission.

OCLC offers the complete catalogue, in English and French, in KBART format or MARC 21 records.

From NFB.ca, you can download the complete English and French catalogue or monthly incremental files that list works added, removed or modified on the site. The full catalogue and incremental files are available in KBART format or MARC 21 records.

How to access the files

  • If you are already an OCLC member: You will find our cataloguing files in the OCLC’s knowledge base. (Details about OCLC membership are available on their site.) You can visit the OCLC knowledge base to access our catalogue. This will allow you to find the Provider ID and Collection ID needed to activate the NFB collection in Collections Management. For more information, please write to supportcanada@oclc.org.
  • If you do not subscribe to OCLC services, or if you wish to use incremental files: To access the MARC cataloguing record download page on NFB.ca, which offers the complete catalogue, or monthly incremental files, please create an NFB.ca account and then contact us to activate your access.
