Yes, a usage licence is required to use any of the resources available on nfb.ca in a classroom. You may already have a usage licence through your school board, your provincial Ministry of Education, or another organization. To find out, please contact us.
If you are not covered by an existing usage licence and only need a single film, please note that the option to purchase a digital copy of the film with classroom presentation rights may be available at the bottom of the film’s page on nfb.ca. If this option is not available, please contact us so we can verify whether we can sell a copy to you directly.
Apart from classroom use by a Canadian educational institution, Public Performance Rights must be acquired to show an NFB film publicly, regardless of the context.
